Dig it! I just bought a bunch of groceries for me and the people I love with affirm.com for the second time in the last 3 months. Credit cards are maxed, the rent is too damned high, and I spend a chunk of money every month servicing debt. Yeah I've been dumb frequently and made some shitty choices, but still. Isn't America groovy?

I'm sorry man, that is pretty horrible.

It's not as bad here yet, but they have already snuck medical insurance in the back door, so it will be coming.

The whole service term is just to try and get us to not think of it, as it is, indentured servitude. I feel you can't do anything in the western world without a loan. My bank recently issued a statement, that you can't have "fee free service" with them, if you don't have "business" with them of AT LEAST 20k. By business, they mean debt. When did banking become primarily a debt factory? · 1 week ago

I love how it's called "servicing" debt. We're the ones gettin' serviced, and it's not in a good way. I remember my mom living on credit cards in the early 2000s, and back then I would say things like "No way am I going to grow up to be her." If I could send my past self a message, it would be ... "Oh my sweet summer child." Mom also died of pancreatic cancer that went undiagnosed for years because she was self-employed and couldn't afford (either financially or temporally) to see a doctor. · 1 week ago

Welcome to end stage capitalism, come on in, the water is scorching!

I've been so good at servicing my debt this year, so good in fact, that the debt is the same as last year. · 1 week ago
