The more I read about Linux consoles, the more I think, did I miss out? Just discovered finger, late to the party, for others, it gets you info on everyone else logged into a machine. That we used to cohabitate on a "mainframe", share resources and even be social on these machines, is mind blowing to me. How in the everloving fuck did we go from that, to the garbage that is the Internet today? I feel like we have been walking backwards since the late 80's. Did Microsoft do this? I was spoonfed a story on how you needed Microsoft to run a company. Uhm, *nix had fileshare, chat, status info, mail, spreadsheets, text writer and VCS 30+ years ago...

Gemini has inspired me to try and live a life in the console. I have gathered apps that may be of use, now it is just to implement. Potentially I could run all of it in termux on my phone and Fedora toolbx. So I can finally bridge the gap and have a small PC on the go.

I find myself sounding like the movie stereotype, old man who says "why can't it just be the way they used to?" I don't feel I'm wrong though, the movies were wrong, it's not an old fool saying that. Too many things are what seems to be deliberately stupid, to the point where it is obstructive or destructive. Like our travel cards, you need to scan every change and when you get off, 10€ is reserved, even if you travel for 4€. Auto refill will charge a minimum of 15€... A gem today though was at the post office, they had a tablet to type in your package, which alerted the staff in the back. So simple, yet so much more effective for everyone.

So I am nearing 40 and the whole concept of making adult friends is difficult at best. I feel like most of mine just slowly and assuredly falls off the radar. Did anyone else learn any good ways to find new friends?
