The outrage machine whirs on: suspect of CEO shooting apprehended. A hero to all, people calling for outright revolution, but now? Well... there's a Twitter account and a Goodreads. Anarchist works, leftism, a couple more conservative views. Wait, it's not precisely only of one ideology? You know what this means. All anger at class disparity is instantly made evoporate, and replaced with culture war- He was one of *them*, the act probably of the far-[insert opposing ideology], too! Ah. Populism. It was fun while it lasted, but the people couldn't stay angry at the king when their neighbor is much closer.

People really hate their health insurance when it plays games with their well being and/or financial stability. Enough people have horror stories about their health insurance to bring mass appeal. I think it boils down to a violation of the perceived social contract, business needs be damned. One cannot impart change as a consumer (you don't get a choice of provider with a job) and mere mortals (the middle class) cannot afford to be a shareholder to bring about change that better serves their needs. The allure is someone finally doing something and change came about almost immediately. While I disagree with the methods and sentiment, I definitely understand where it comes from. · 1 week ago
@darkghost To be fair, I might've underestimated the momentum of the suspect's popularity. I just wanted to critique the absoluteness of thought that would lead a person stranded in a desert to reject the gift of water if at any point in the delivery it had touched by no less than two degrees of separation a divergent opinion, no matter how innocuously so. · 1 week ago
This is definitely the opposite ideology's fault. They're so bad and think things I don't. I think we should legislate in a poorly thought-out manner and then complain about the status quo in the next election cycle. And also lose friends. That will show you all once and for all! · 1 week ago
