somehow i didn’t know how much sugar happens to be in bagels. no wonder they taste so good. why is it so hard to find a reasonably nutritious breakfast in this country? what’s wrong with us?

Because everything is ultra processed. Fruit, bread, etc are all just sugar once they are on the other side of your teeth. Choose something with a high fat and protein content as the main part of your meal and try to keep the sugars to something that also carries other stuff you need (vitamins, fiber, etc) · 2 days ago

Taste altering by consuming ultraprocessed food in the long run is an underestimated topic. Everyone who tried to make homemade biscuits knows how much sugar you have to add to make them less sweet than the ones you can buy. · 4 days ago

The idea (likely informed by growing up with helicopter parents and the idea that reality behaves like the internet) that our techne will let us transcend/escape the rules of the world we live in ...was a fiction. The creature comforts and the illusion that preferences override reality gave the web2.0/Pharma/GenMills gatekeepers power. We're still camping, and have been glammered in a fairy circle for quite some time. Get outside. "Touch grass" means reconnecting to the real world. Walk to church. Repent. Full on "crunchy con" take here: make your own food. Treat your diet as if it were as important as the software you compile/use. · 5 days ago
