We've been having our bathroom renovated this week. According to our downstairs neighbour, the previous owner spent about 2 years of weekends updating it himself. And it just wasn't really good enough. The tiles on outer corners just had exposed edges, the shower was kinda dodgy, the pipes running along the base of one wall were just covered with loose wooden covers. It looked nice at a glance but it was all a bit dodgily done. Plus everything was grey - almost black floor tiles, grey tiles on all the walls, black countertop. It's a north-facing room to begin with and the greyness really didn't help make it any brighter.
So when we moved into this place we decided to get it all redone in about a year. It's now been a year and a half and it's finally happening! We're going white for the walls, pink geometric tiles for the wall along the side of the bath, light faux-stone countertops and light floor tiles. Plus putting a 6-bulb spotlight fixture on the ceiling - my big problem with the bathroom will be fixed!
So far they've ripped everything out (which was a scary "what have we done?" moment for me), and put in the bath, tiled around it and plastered the remaining walls. Tomorrow they'll be assembling the cabinets, which are a dusky pink that matches our hallway!
It's been weirdly stressful having these strangers in our flat - since COVID we've become a bit reclusive. But I think we'd always have a bit of an issue having strange men in our house. One guy on the first day would do the "hawk-tuh" spit occasionally which I've never really understood. Can't you gather phlegm without having to make a weird noise? Is it just to make a performance of spitting? What's the deal? Anyway now I'm rambling so I'll get this uploaded so my gemlog has something on it for once.
