Minority Report

Rewatching this classic I watched the first time on theatre 22 years ago.

Spoiler followings about: Minority Report; Fabelmans

Spielberg is one of my treasured authors and rewatching this after The Fabelmans make me think about how montage is central to Minority Report: the datagloves scene is iconic but the editing is not a technique, it's a meta-discourse inside the movie.

It's a variation of the subplot about how the camera can transform the reality seen in The Fabelmans, when the young director transform his enemy into a superhero on front of the entire school.

If that was the rise of the bad, Minority Report was the fall of the good (Lamar) on front of his high society supporter.

Now some free thoughts about the movie:

I've seen the main actress of Cold Case as the John Anderton's wife and I didn't remember it
Special effects holds well even after 20 years and counting
I used to think Witwer's suspenders are cool but now I think they're someway off (thank you dieworkwear)
Witwer's suspenders make me think about Farrell's interpretation on Ask the Dust but it's 4 years later
Precog temple is similar to tanks seen on the Battlestar Galactica (TRS) series for Hybrids

About the future in Minority Report and the future now:

They print a lot of photos
They read newspapers on actual paper
No screen smartphone...
...but mobile earbuds
No visible sophisticated AI, the ads maybe
No human-like robots
Eye-recognition instead of face recognition
Electric cars

Precrime is an agency of the state and no corporation is backing it up apparently: in 2002 was normal, in 2024 it's off and Verhoeven's Robocop see that more clearer than others.
