How do searchengines in gemspace work? Or how don't they work? I see there is a need for finding stuff in the larger universe, and that makes me worry that we will get screwed like a google once again.

@userfxnet Wow, it's up again!

Useless, but interesting fact: streaming somewhat works via Kineto Gemini-to-HTTP proxy, but it only plays twenty seconds — after that the proxy likely closes the connection. It would probably be possible to make it stream continuosly, but we aren't here for HTTP services, right? 😏 · 7 months ago

I don't think there's enough mass appeal to Gemini for anything like Google to crop up here. This is a very niche space that will likely only ever appeal to a certain type of technologist. · 7 months ago

@userfxnet I'm expanding my bookmark section... i soon will need a bookmark serchengine as well. Everything feels a bit like the early days when Altavista was all we had.

I'll give them all a go and explore a couple of new rabbitholes. · 7 months ago

there are search engines here like tlgs, auragem.letz.dev (its back up), geminispace.info, kennedy, you shouod be able to find them at directories like medusae.space or cdg.thegonz.net of which you're also able to submit any finds you come across. · 7 months ago
