Moderate geomagnetic storm conditions were registered globally, with the NOAA planetary Kp index reaching 6- between 00:00 UTC and 03:00 UTC on August 28, as a result of the ICME that is currently affecting the Earth. The interplanetary magnetic field peaked at 17 nT, with a minimum Bz of -15 nT, and the solar wind speed reached up to 340 km/s. Locally, only active conditions (K-Bel = 4) were observed over Belgium. Further minor to moderate geomagnetic storm conditions may be possible over the next 24 hours.

A partial halo coronal mass ejection (CME) was detected in the LASCO/C2 coronagraph imagery starting at 04:12 UTC on August 28. The CME is directed primarily to the east from Earth's perspective and is likely associated with a prominence eruption near the eastern limb. Due to the location of the source region, no significant impact on Earth is expected.
