Start your engines for 12th annual Legenderry Motor Show

Paddy Leonard, 28 Sep

St Columb’s Park is the place to be this Sunday, 29^th September for

the twelfth annual Legenderry Motor Show and this years’ event promises

to be even bigger and better!

All roads lead to the most anticipated motoring event of the season!

This spectacular charity Motor Show is a fun family day out and

promises a thrilling showcase of all types of vehicles - cars, bikes,

vans, tractors, and trucks – everything with an engine and much more,

all in one place.

Commenting Show organiser Richard Gillespie said: “We’re really looking

forward to welcoming everyone to this year's show. There will be all

types of vehicles from the latest models to vintage classics alongside

retro, American, super, luxury car, bike, van, tractor or truck – and

everyone is welcome.

“As well as hundreds of vehicles the show will also feature special

guest comedian and entertainer Black Paddy aka Fabu-D, live music from

singer, songwriter and international sensation Ritchie Remo, motorbike

stunts from the Trialstar team, KidzFarm, and much much more.

“All we ask from spectators is a donation into the charity buckets at

the gate, no matter how big or small and for exhibitors there’s no need

to pre-book, just pay at the gate – Bikes/mopeds/scooters £5,

Cars/vans/tractors £10 and Trucks £15.

“We want to give a special thanks to everyone – our exhibitors,

marshals, sponsors, trade stands, charity volunteers and friends - who

help to make this Show such an annual success story for the City– so

hit the diff and head for St Columb’s Park!

Richard continued: “With this year being our twelfth annual event

Legenderry Motor Show is all about coming together as a community to

support a worthy cause. Proceeds from this year’s Show will help local

people and their families affected by kidney disease through Kidney

Care UK. This charity provides direct emotional and financial support

right here in the City and across Northern Ireland, making a meaningful

and lasting impact on the lives of those living with this long-term

condition.”

Also commenting – Jo-Anne Dobson, who is a living kidney donor and NI

Ambassador for Kidney Care UK, said: “Legenderry Motor Show is a fun

family day out and a credit to the City. Organisers Richard and Joanne

Gillespie are to be highly commended for their tireless work and sheer

attention to detail – they truly are Mr and Mrs Legenderry - and as a

local kidney family we thank them from the bottom of our hearts for

choosing Kidney Care UK as the charity for this years show.

“None of the dedicated services we provide to local people and their

families affected by kidney disease would be possible without the

terrific support we receive from the very heart of the local community

and that’s why it was so humbling to have the generous support from the

fabulous Legenderry Motor Show.

“Your support will enable us to continue to support local children, and

adults living with kidney disease including funding the children each

year to attend the Transplant Games. We also provide dedicated support

including funding Shared Care nurses and Psychology Services at

Altnagelvin & Omagh Hospitals and a Renal Counsellor in the Northern

Trust.

“A massive thank you to everyone at the Legenderry Motor Show, their

superb sponsors, entrants and supporters and also to our terrific team

of Kidney Care UK volunteers led by local kidney recipient Heather

Vance. I ask everyone to please have that family conversation about

organ donation because we all have it within us to become a

life-saver.”

Richard concluded: “Whether you're a petrolhead enthusiast, a family

looking for a fun day out, or simply want to enjoy the fun of the Show

and support a worthy cause, the Legenderry Motor Show has something for

everyone.

“Alongside row after row of gleaming vehicles we will also have the

Irish Coastguards Rescue Helicopter Rescue 118 arriving at the Show,

the Ulster Gilding Centre are bringing along a glider and the North

West Model Aircraft Club will also be with us.

“To add to the excitement we also have a ‘Show ‘n Shine’ with a range

of trophies up for grabs for different categories, live music, kids

entertainment in the form of karts, bouncy castle and trampoline, a

clown, a balloon modeller and Mickey and Minnie – it all happens at

Legenderry!

“We will also have a live arena where we will have stunt shows,

falconry fly displays and a real-life road traffic accident (RTA)

scenario where the PSNI, Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service

(NIFRS), Ambulance Service and an undertaker all take part to help.

It’s quite a spectacle with a vital road safety message.

“Our popular Trade Village with also be in full swing with a whole

range of stalls around the Park and our exciting prize-packed raffle

tickets will be back on sale. The Show will finish off in style with a

Convoy of the City.

“This year’s twelfth annual Show is dedicated to the memory of my

beloved Uncle Given Gillespie. He was a true car enthusiast, indeed a

lover of anything with an engine, and is the inspiration behind the

Legenderry Motor Show. We are proud that the show has grown so much

over the years and it’s truly special to Joanne and I that it is held

in his memory.”

The Legenderry Motor Show will take place on Sunday, September 29 at St

Columb’s Park running track. More information on the show, including a
