Discographies and Retrospectives

A good friend of mine has started listening to the complete discographies of bands we like. It's a daunting task because there are many bands we think we like, but in the end, we only truly enjoy a few records from a certain period. For example, we love Dream Theater, but we're not exactly sure what happened after *Train of Thought* or *Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence*. If you ask me to name one of their more recent albums from that point on... I wouldn't be able to. The same goes for other metal bands like Symphony X, Opeth, and so on. Sometimes it's not that the new albums are bad, it's just that after a certain point, you either get tired, or the bands change a bit, whether in sound or style.

It's been many years since I "disconnected" from certain bands, and I've thought it might be nice to try and reconnect with them in a more systematic way. I think from now on, I'll start revisiting old albums and posting some reviews or thoughts about them here. I just need to figure out where to start!
