To say that the Gemini-Protocol outpost has (and links to) a lot of information would be an understatement of epic proportions. We have spent the better part of a day sifting through the archives and I feel we have barely began to scratch the surface. We have discovered that the upgrades (installing the Lagrange client) we performed to our systems in order to access Geminispace has also granted us access to Gopherspace. The creator, known as "skyjake," of the Lagrange (client) technology is one talented individual. This technological marvel allows us to seamlessly traverse between Geminispace and Gopherspace in the blink of an eye. We will continue to follow the rabbit (or the gopher?) down the hole to see what else we can learn.
Gemini Protocol Outpost (capsule)
We have arrived at what appears to be a colony (multi-user hosting services) of sorts called gemlog.blue. The leader, who goes by the name "sloum," has provided us with information regarding the services offered by the colony. It appears as if this colony's sole purpose is to help new Geminispace visitors establish a presence in Geminispace, albeit with some limitations.
I believe this is an opportunity that we must consider. Establishing a presence at this Geminispace colony (gemlog.blue) would allow us to forgo exposing our vulnerable outpost coordinates to potential hostiles and therefore mitigate our security concerns, but at a price. We would be limited to being able to transfer certain types of data only and we would also be limited to the kind of information we are allowed to share.
In our travels we have acquired knowledge that some "lifeforms" in certain regimes of "normal" space would consider too dangerous for anyone other than themselves to have. These regimes would extend their tentacles of corruption into Geminispace and extinguish this colony without a second thought in order to keep the knowledge to themselves. I must give this matter further thought. For now, we rejoice in the fact that their are still people out there willing to help others without thought of reward.
