while all the other suggestions are good on an individualistic level they feel selfish to me and don't actually solve any of the problems you're likely seeing. if you're like me then I'd recommend getting involved in organising. Housing/tennants unions or Palestine solidarity groups are good places to start.

News is possibly the most corrosive and damaging drug you can be hooked on. The consequences for your mental health and social relationships are catastrophic, and make heroin and crack look like amateur hour.

I keep seeing all of this injustice and corruption everywhere I look. I always thought that I'd feel better once I turned 18 and would be able to vote and drink and stuff; but I still feel as powerless as ever. I sometimes have dreams about randomly catching a train to London and doing something practical; but that's pretty damn unrealistic. What the fuck can I do to make things better?
