New York Times is Silent on Debate

Because it didn't go well for Biden...

Not just the front page; there is no mention of the debate in the entire paper...

Trump came off as a liar, which these days is normal for a politician. A bit scary but surprisingly civilized. Biden on the other hand, sounded like the cranky mean old fart and couldn't string two sentences together, and announced that he beat medicaid...

I expected NYT to at least mention this event, which has opened up a public discussion on even liberal TV networks of replacing Biden as a candidate. Cowards!

Biden's post debate speach consisted of calling Trump a liar, just like the Indians in his favorite John Wayne movie, after Jill cheered 'yay, you answered all the questions!'

It would be funny except these bozos run our lives.

I think Mr. Biden summarized the state of the USA when he said: "More fentanyl machines! We need those machines!"

I did a search for "inurl:nytimes.com debate" and see plenty of articles about the debate, many negative toward biden with titles like "A Fumbling Performance, and a Panicking Party - President Biden’s shaky, halting debate performance has Democrats talking about replacing him on the ticket." - their website currently has a section titled "Biden Campaign Plunged Into Crisis After Halting Debate Performance" on the front page that links to several articles criticizing Biden's Performance. So I don't think the idea that NYT is quiet on the issue is accurate, and certainly they're not afraid to criticize Biden's performance.

As for the debate, these were my favorite parts:

Fingers crossed that the democrats learn from the response to the debate and convince Biden to step aside for someone else.

— we don't need this to be the election theme song again

The paper edition had nothing. I read a few articles online, one with a graph of minutes spent insulting the other side (with whatever methodology Trump was double the Biden's time, although subjectively it really felt that Biden did more -- probably because the rest of what he said was nonsense)

Not silent any more :)

"The New York Times’s editorial board has called on Joe Biden to drop out of the 2024 presidential race after a disastrous debate performance against Donald Trump."

I think they had many meetings and waited for the OK from the DNC. As my Republican friend had predicted, they waited for the day after the primaries, and scheduled the debate ridiculously early to allow enough time to propagandize the next guy.

@stack you are right, there was nothing in the paper edition the morning after the debate. They waited until the Saturday paper because they needed to be careful that they had permission from all the right people.
