Gemini needs more content to be somewhere you can actually hang out full time. One thing that would be very valuable is a web to gemini proxy service. Looks like there is one, but I don't see any reference to an actually deployed public instance.

Another web-via-gemini proxy is Duckling Proxy. It is a scheme-specific proxy so it is transparent to your client. (i.e. you dont have to adjust any URLs as a user) gemini://gemini.marmaladefoo.com/blog/1-Sep-2020_The_Duckling_Proxy.gmi · 2 years ago

We should set up a service telling what kind of content people would like to see on Gemini · 2 years ago
Looks like the gopher proxy (gopherpedia) is still a bit better. I assume this stuff will get ironed out as we go here. · 2 years ago

@wolftivy I don't know of general purpose proxies, but I've seen some specific ones (like a wikipedia or reddit mirrors).
You can find links to them (and more) in my "Intro to Gemini", specifically under "🎭️ Mirrors" section here: gemini://josipantolis.from.hr/starfish/intro/apps.gmi · 2 years ago
