One interesting factlet I always found fun to learn is that the English used to have a unit called a wand, equal to 1007 mm, that the French discarded in favour of the yard. Not only was it a great shame that it was, it also implies that wands should be very long, much longer than the ones in modern depictions. · 2 years ago
