I think it was Socrates or Aristotle who said that the best bonds of friendship/brotherhood are built on shared struggle. His examples were being disciples together (struggle of learning) and soldiery (struggle of war). I imagine the kinds of things firefighters see/endure in the course of duty is like that... the camraderie came from shared suffering. If you're ready to do that part too, then that could be a good place to find friends. · 4 months ago
