Yeah. I remember the magical feeling, after dialing and getting a busy signal a few times, the modem would make that handshake sound and weird texty things would scroll across the screen. I'd do my business quickly and get out, because long-distance was expensive, by the minute...

Gees, I should have read it to the end... But in my experience as a barely-teen in the 80s in NYC, the only pedos I met were IRL, not online. I certainly would not go to a BBS meetup had I known such things existed.
