Some of the vim shorcuts which gets used a lot has become past of the muscle memory after few years of using vim. I am still learning new functionality almost everyday. Its like knowing someone very well and still be surprised every now and then after finding out new and interesting things about them.
Vim is familiar, moving hand to the mouse feels weird when using any other text editor. Few days ago I had to use a Windows machine (😧), and I had to type few things in its native editor, whose name I refuse to speak. When I finished what I had to type, I hit the CapsLcock and typed :wq. At this time I was looking like an idiot at the screen and wondering why would it show me that at the end of the sentence in capital letters and also not go away.
After that incident I really started to pay attention to whay I am typing and to my surprise as soon as thought enters my mind, my fingers has already issued that command, opened that file or navigagted through the NerdTree to that file.
I am so glad that I invested time into learning vim and actually stayed with it long enough to actually experience what other people I have seen on the internet mention.
I am not as good at so many of the much more experienced vim user out there, but I am happy with my progress. 😄

I don't know how long I've been using vim (now neovim), but it must be over a decade now. But I'm far from knowing everything. And all those plugins! My last big discovery (there were a few later ones too), was "VimWiki" with "Telescope" for note-taking and fuzzy finding.

I have been using VimWiki for few months now and I found it super intuitive. It has made my jumbled and dispersed note taking chaos much tidier. I have not used Telescope yet, I will look it up today. Fuzzy finding is awesome. I like to do everything except browsing in the terminal. Its kind of a sickness really. Some might even say its a terminal decease. 🤣 DrawIt is a plug that I recently found for the creating ASCII art.

After a couple years of vim only, opened emacs and seemed completely idiotic and I couldn't remember how to do anything

I know how you must have felt. Its one of those thing that only another vim user can understand. Have you ever tried explaing the vim-way to a non-vim user ? After couple of minutes of logical explaination, looking at the confusion at their face, I realize, this is something that can not be explained. Vim needs to be experienced and unfortunately only select few has that much amount of patience and will to learn and adapt.
