This is a wordlog for the SpellBinding puzzle (in which you construct words using the specified letters; each word must contain the anchor letter).
Yesterday's words:
CLOCK CLOD CLODDY CLOUD CLOUDY CLOY CLUCK COLD COLDLY COOL COOLLY COULD COYLY CUCKOLD CUCKOLDLY CUDDLY CULL DOLL DOLLY DULL DULLY DULY LOCK LOCO LOLL LOLLY LOOK LOUD LOUDLY LUCK LUCKY LUDO LULL LULU ODDLY YOLK
Pangrams: CUCKOLDLY
Missed: CYCLO, CULLY
CLOD (n): a lump of dirt; an oaf. CLODDY (adj)...
CUCKOLDLY is a bit of a stretch, as it is marked as 'obsolete'... However, I've actually heard it in use, and I don't see why cockoldly is obsolete while 'cuckoldom' and 'cuckoldry' are not! I make the executive decision to keep it.
LUDO is a form of pachisi played chiefly in the British isles... eh, ok.
Otherwise, I thought is was a surprisignly tedious puzzle with a pretty low maximum score. I suppose there are a lot of low-scoring 4-letter words, and the -LY ending just adds to the tedium...
Another day.
