Nicola Desmond, PRO of a number of charities and organisations,
including the Belgooly Tidy Villages, Kinsale Garden and Flower Club,
and the Cork Summer Show, has been unveiled as the latest recipient of
the award.

A woman has been honoured for her trojan work with various groups in
the Belgooly area, with the monthly Cork International Hotel Community
Spirit Award.
Nicola Desmond, PRO of a number of charities and organisations,
including the Belgooly Tidy Villages, Kinsale Garden and Flower Club,
and the Cork Summer Show, has been unveiled as the latest recipient of
the award.
Ms Desmond, who’s been working with Pfizer for the last 35 years, has
been praised for her unwavering dedication to her local community and
her tireless efforts in providing services for locals.
Ms Desmond has been instrumental in the organising of fund-raising
activities for the restoration of the Friary Church in Kinsale, as well
as her involvement with their annual trip to Lourdes.
The Belgooly native is also responsible for the popular bingo events
held locally for various different charities, and was recently involved
in putting together the Belgooly Festival, which brought a mix of
entertainment to the area for families to enjoy.
Ms Desmond has credited the network of people around her, including her
family, with helping her do all her volunteering work.
General manager of the Cork International Hotel, Eoghan Murphy said:
“Nicola has been immersed in the activities of her local community for
years and never says no to helping any charity or organisation with
their fundraising efforts.
“It is our great pleasure to honour her with a Community Spirit Award
to recognise her dedication to her area and she is a worthy recipient
of the monthly award.”
The judging panel for the Community Spirit Awards is made up of a
mixture of representatives from the public and private sector within
the community.
Nominations are open for next month’s awards via the Cork International
Hotel website.
