Actress Saoirse Ronan is seeking permission to demolish and rebuild her

waterfront home in West Cork.

An application was originally submitted to Cork County Council earlier

this month by Ms Ronan’s production company, but was marked as

incomplete due to a request for further information made by the

Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.

Slaney Production ULC, which has an address in Dublin, where Ms Ronan

acts as a director, re-submitted the application to the council earlier

this week.

The newlywed celebrity is seeking to demolish the existing 125 sq

metres house in Foilnamuck, Ballydehob, and to further construct a

replacement single-storey three-bedroomed house to the size of 332 sq

metres.

Bird, married actor Jack Lowden in a ceremony in Scotland last month.

The plans will also see the relocation of the existing access and

private laneway from the north of the site to the north-west for

improved sightlines.

Further included in the plans is hard and soft landscaping, boundary

treatment, and all associated site development works above and below

ground.

The development will also be connected to a new wastewater treatment

system that has been granted permission in accordance with Cork County

Council regulations, but has not yet been implemented.

The charming stone cottage is situated near the water’s edge of

Roaringwater Bay, and is accompanied by an external guesthouse, which

is not included in the demolition plans submitted to the local

authority.

Ms Ronan purchased the home in West Cork in 2020, following the sale of

her Greystones estate in Wicklow for €1.6m in 2019.

Cork County Council is due to make a decision on the application by

November 21.
