An X2.8 flare has occurred with a start time 16:47 UTC, end time 17:12 UTC and a peak time 17:02 UTC on December 14th. The flare was produced by the NOAA Active Region (AR) 3514, which is currently located near the North-West solar limb. Type II and Type IV radio emission were detected at 17:08 during the flaring activity. Currently no increase is observed in the GOES proton flux, however it will be closely monitored. It is also too early to see a coronal mass ejection in SOHO/LASCO data, but we are awaiting corresponding coronagraph data for further analysis.
