Moon Knight

Episode 6 2022-05-18

Overall, the series was entertaining. And Oscar Isaac was great of course. But it was underwhelming. They tried to get at some philosophical questions that could have been interesting, but they basically glossed over it and made it as uninteresting as possible. I'm sure I'll watch a second season if they make it, but it won't be at the top of my list.

Episode 5 2022-05-17

We started the episode talking about how the Egyptian mythology was barely used in this series in lieu of more exciting fight scenes. A lot of the MCU properties don't embrace the nerdiness that's probably present in the comic books. This episode finally goes a bit deeper into the mythology, but it still feels superficial. There are a lot of facts stated but very little evelopment of any magic system of similar; the facts don't seem to advance the story particularly. The exceptions are the Thor movies (particularly Taika Waititi's). It also makes an interesting juxtaposition to the DCEU.
