Library

Over the last few weeks I've been working on a library for my Gemini capsule. It is a collection of a variety of public domain works, including plays, the Bible, and political economy. It's rather small at the moment, but it's continually being expanded with other free literature I find interesting.

Currently the library contains:

Read the library

Everything currently in the library is in the public domain, but I might add works released under Creative Commons licences in the future. All my modifications are explicitly released into the public domain to avoid any possible confusion.

Right now I'm working on a script that will split large books into smaller chunks and generate a linked table of contents for it, that way clients don't need to download hundreds of kilobytes from the server in a single request, especially if the reader doesn't want to read more than a paragraph or two. When that is finished, I'll add other long works, including Marx's influential work on political economy: Das Kapital.

I previously had a "books" page which was similar, but far less organized and a lot clumsier. Smith and Marx's tomes were just Gutenberg's plaintext copies, which were difficult to navigate and hardly pleasant to read (not that reading about the price of linens for hundreds of pages is ever truly enjoyable). Everything in this new library is optimized for Gemini and is available in either gemtext or gempub.

If you have more suggestions for works to add, feel free to contact me (information on the main page).

That's all for now.
