but he came up out of nowhere like a shark

from the water from the couch

from the cushion he was there

and he attacked

and he attacked me

protecting allison

as if she lived in washington

d.c. in a house built in a prior century

white teeth bared teeth

and a nasty little growl

you never even know

when kevin's on the prowl
