2022 has been a very exciting year and one that I will always remember.
The most important thing has been the birth of my son, so it has been an incredibly happy year for me. It's amazing what you learn from a little person who can't even speak yet.
We've more or less ended the pandemic, at least in practice, so I've finally been able to spend enough time away from home. I spent over a month vacationing in my hometown, and then some extra time in other parts of the Andalusian seaside. This summer has been incredibly tough because of the temperature, and if it's as hot in 2023, we're going to have a really horrible time.
I feel like in 2022 my main struggle has been trying to feel productive. I've written a ton of music for an indie game and all the time I felt like it wasn't enough. I have to work on optimizing my workflows and improving my organizational approaches. Despite being socially accepted, spending my time working instead of being with my son has been generally painful.
Laborally, the most remarkable thing is that I have left behind the company where I have been for twelve years. I got a great offer at The Game Kitchen, to work on a number of cool projects, so I've finally been able to say goodbye to mobile games and be 100% focused on indie stuff for PC and consoles.
A highlight has been the physical cartridge release of a Game Boy game I participated in a while ago, the edition is really good! The tool with which I made the music for Powa! was very limited, but I would like to resume this kind of activity using HUGETracker, now that it is supported by ZGB.
Big Giant Trees 2 is still postponed... But I don't lose hope of getting it out in 2023! Guitar lessons motivate me a lot, but the truth is that I don't have too much time to practice. I have some songs in my head, but it's a task that requires a lot of dedication and I wouldn't like to do it in a hurry and not enjoy the process.
2023 is definitely going to bring a lot of good things, I'm sure. The biggest challenge is going to be to achieve a personal balance between life and work!
