DEV BLOG - Week 23 of 2022

Sunday, June 5th

Today, I'm working on the Gemini capsule (this thing right here) and writing out more things for it. If I can quit getting fucking interrupted.

I also need to dig into a couple of things, like the rework on Melanie and that pesky MySQL thing with the slash in the database name. I have a proof of concept that I want to prove to myself.

Monday, June 6th

I created a git repo and dir structure for all the static sites that are currently jacked up on the Aethem side. I killed the server they were on without extracting any of the data from them a few weeks ago, which is cool and gusty in one way, and dumb as hell in another. From there, I am using Hugo to generate new ones that I will need to configure and then install.

At the bills job, I appear to be making progress, and I can see some potential doors opening for me that will allow me to do more of the DBA style work I find the most enjoyable. I also get two dedicated hours a week for training/possibly being mentored, and I am certainly going to use that to the fullest extent.

Tuesday, June 7th

I enrolled in Udemy on a monthly basis to allow me to get to some MySQL and other courses. I think if I get my hands dirtier on the database things, I can have more fun with it all. I do know that I would like to get a fuller understanding on what we offer at the database level, and I don't mind generating the test cases and documentation on those.

Wednesday, June 8th

I did MySQL learning. It was fun.

Thursday, June 9th

Spent a good part of today working with a new MySQL instance that I plan to move the Ghost sites over to. One thing has grabbed me about that, and it is the possibility of just making my WHM site a static one. I'm using Hugo for everything else, and since I want this capsule to shift over to the better and more powerful (and free!) server, might as well let everyone live in the same house.

Friday, June 10th

Today was mostly working on a Hugo-generated static site for WHM. I'm pretty much done with Ghost in the capacities that I don't explicitly need it. It's a landing page because I just think it makes more sense. The folks that actually care about my geek side will be old skool, and stuff like this is just the way of the walk. My author site is a different animal since it's connected to a publishing business and sends out mail and articles and such. But the holder looks like this:

And other than maybe a subdomain holding my vitae, I'm just not interested in putting jack shit on the HTML side. You's my peeps right here.

Saturday, June 11th

Installed Nginx on Prism, the server I'm using to hold all of my static sites, these capsules, and most likely the BBS (Aleph BBS). I had eliminated that server and thus also lost the BBS, capsule, and static site. So it only makes sense to move it all to Prism now.

I also had to take some time to pretty up Leo's tank. He's been in the 5 gallon for a hot minute now, so he deserved a spa day.

The rest of the evening has been spent working on the site that will soon be my CV site. More on that when I get it together.
