Summer hotness

BeerW0lf | 2021-07-27

Hot. It has been really hot. A proper hot day or a scorcher translates to "Helle" in Finnish. Nordic countries define a proper Helle day to have temperatures rise above 25 °C (77 °F). This summer I've seen the digits in my yard's thermometer rise to a whopping 34 °C (93.2 °F). For a Finn thats too hot.

Finland hasn't seen so many consecutive scorcher days for at least 60 years. Last streak record was on 2014: 26 consecutive days. This summer we're breaking the record with 31 consecutive days.

Vacation

Luckily the hot weather has synchronised with my vacation, so can't really complain. Since COVID hit, the family hasn't left the country for any trips. This was true again for our summer vacation. Domestic travel is still a lot of fun. We went to Lapland for some hinking. The trip logistics involved loading our car in to a train. Sleeping on the train and driving few hundred kilometers to a rental cabin in the north. We spent a nice week there. Back south we visited Yyteri's beaches, and took brief camping trips. We also saw some friends.

All in all this vacation time was really needed and has been a real relief. We've been both remote working at home for the past 16 months. A change of scenery was real good!

gemspace pod

I haven't been updating the site... err, the pod for a while. I guess I'll edit the structure a bit. I think I'll make the Linux notes section a bit broader for topics. Maybe an archive section too, so the main page doesn't grow too tall. Real-soon-now...
