Back when I opened my Gemini capsule last year, in all honesty I thought that the protocol was being a bit overhyped, more so when some content creators announced it as an end-all, be-all solution to the bloated and privacy-invasive world wide web. I already suspected this was a bit of naive attitude: even considering the multiple threats to freedom and privacy that the modern web represents, it still covers a wide range of legitimate usecases, something Gemini unfortunately simply cannot boast of.
Some evidence of this is when long-time Gemini users abandon the protocol, consuming no more content from it and/or no longer developing any software:

Whereas publishing articles on my gemlog always was an insightful activity to me, at some point I was unable to find relevant content on the geminispace to my interests. I agree with the writer of the article above that the protocol started to wear off right after the COVID-19 lockdown. As a result, I spent a few months neither publishing or consuming any content.
However, this changed recently. While I still think Gemini is limited by design to a narrow set of usecases, written articles is where Gemini excels at, so it was a good opportunity to write about two tools that I have been working on this year, namely slcl and slweb:
slcl and slweb, small and lightweight tools for the web
Soon after publishing these articles, I discovered new interesting gemlogs thanks to the CAPCOM aggregator:
Then, I read a few references on different gemlogs to Station, a Gemini-only social network filled with nice and friendly people:
Station, where capsuleers hang out
Also, there is a similar project (maybe more in the vein of Lemmy/Reddit) where I enjoy hanging out, called BBS:
BBS: discussion forums, microblogging and Git issue tracking for the Gemini community
Thanks to these nice little projects, I was able to socialize with other Geminauts and feel more integrated with the community. This might result in more and more frequent articles on this capsule.
So let me know about your articles! I am willing to read them.
