Setting Up My Dotfiles or Something

2023-09-01 21:01:59Z (last updated 2024-07-02 18:10:38Z)

Hi! I am writing to you from this Dell XPS laptop I named "dweller". Yep, that's the hostname.

I didn't exactly buy this laptop (instead someone else bought it, then later bought another one, and didn't use this Dell laptop).

But I felt like documenting the setup of my dotfiles for no reason other than for myself.

Setting up the dotfiles

1. `cd $HOME`

2. `git --git-dir=.cfg/ --work-tree=. clone https://git.sr.ht/~jacksonchen666/dotfiles` (or alternatively just do a normabarel clone, then move the git dir to `~/.cfg/`)

3. `git --git-dir=.cfg/ --work-tree=. reset --hard` (yeah I know, but I

don't know what else)

Install Oh my bash

5. Screw around with bashrc files until you figured it out

Install vim-plug

7. Install nodejs (for [coc.nvim])

8. Run `:PlugInstall` in `nvim` (or `vim`)

9. Fill in `~/.config/weechat/certs/` (reference weechat config files which reference the `certs` directory

10. run `git --git-dir=.cfg/ --work-tree=. submodule update --init --recursive`

coc.nvim

And that's probably it.

Setting up other stuff

There was a few things I had to setup as well on this dweller:

Not much else. Don't use my dotfiles unless you want to become exactly me.
