Haven't been following the tournament too closely this month, but looks like @drh3xx has had it in the bag for a while now. Another runaway winner... Don't forget to wear your 👑 if you want. 🙂 I've been having decent luck this week for a change, which is nice.

New ASCII banner for my capsule — [preformatted] Can someone point me toward the right direction so that I can mix ANSI colours with ASCII art? 🙏

Gemini: A virtual utopia 💝 — When I first encountered Gemini, it felt like home in an instant due to following main reasons: No noise, no advertisements, no unwanted video players that follow you as you scroll User base that values writing and reading more than gaming and scrolling endlessly Quality over quantity: remember when people used to discuss editorials they read in the newspaper during breakfast when they meet at the...

We really should host our own email servers on VPSes — I got an email reply from someone who discovered my email 10 days after sending in his spam folder. I'm not sure why - maybe he hosts his domain at Outlook.com or Gmail and it's difficult to build up reputation for these A-holes. Or it may be because my VPS provider is on the UCEPROTECT-L3 blocklist (again). But I really like plaintext email despite all of it's problems. So I think the smolnet/IndieWeb community members should run their own...

Vim, the editor, the notekeeper and the IDE — Some of the vim shorcuts which gets used a lot has become past of the muscle memory after few years of using vim. I am still learning new functionality almost everyday. Its like knowing someone very well and still be surprised every now and then after finding out new and interesting things about them. Vim is familiar, moving hand to the mouse feels weird when using any other text editor. Few days ago I had to use a Windows machine (😧), and I had to...

Afternoon Tea 🫖 — 🫖 🍵 🍵 If a cup of tea on the kitchen table and a plate of biscuits next to it is your concept of relaxed evening then you are the right place. What makes the afternoon tea even better is when the golden sun rays come in through the window and mix with the steam rising from the cup. The aroma of the tea mixed with ginger snap biscuits creates relaxed environment. It is the time not to think about any of the responsibilities, the unending ToDo lists or the dreaded due dates. It...

Check out my new Hobbit Garden. — I have created my first ever capsule. Since I found geminispace, I feel like I have found a peaceful space. I love ASCII art and will keep producing it on my capsule in coming days and years.

I'm probably about 1 or 2 weeks away from fully implementing a misfin server from scratch and possibly a misfin client. After enough reading, I decided to implement GMAP and Misfin(C), although I will have the server also accept Misfin(B) messages. Compared to implementing a gemini server and gemini client, this has been surprisingly more complicated than I had initially expected, even after reading the spec details. I'll probably write a gemlog about my opinions on implementating Misfin vs...

Death to the Martians — The sky was, it felt, permanently orange. Whether that was down to the street lights of a city that spread for thousands of miles, or the quasi in-interupted fires that raged outside said city, I didn't know. In any case I was out of here. After years and years of patient bribes, and a small fortune spent, I'd finally secured a place on a shuttle for the Mars settlements. Still a mining planet, it also harboured independent, self managed settlements. Life wasn't easy...

I went a good three weeks with my dumb phone until a work trip. I kept my android around just in case but rarely needed it. all my smartphone necessities were satisfied in about 10 minutes when I got home from work. I plan to switch back when I return.

Notebook conversion - CPU / GPU fan advice sought So I am in the process of converting my old ACER5920G laptop into a "cyberdeck", or rather, something that looks like the immensely cool old MSX2 computers [1]. I have disassembled the laptop, stripped it down entirely. I now have a bare motherboard. I would like make an entirely fanless system if I can help it, or at least I would like to make the CPU (Intel T5500) and GPU cooled with a massive and "decorative" heatsink, and perhaps add a few...

slcl 0.3.0 release — I have just released slcl 0.3.0. This version provides several bugfixes and improvements from libweb 0.4.0 and fixes a bug when uploading files. It is recommended to upgrade existing instances to the lastest version.

BBS has been updated to a work-in-progress version of Bubble. There are a couple of useful additions so far: comment action that merges the comment into the previous post in the thread, if the authors are the same support for the Titan "edit" parameter for a more seamless text editing experience (requires client support!) In addition to the comment author, moderators and the admin have the ability to merge comments. I'll be applying this in cases where the same user comments multiple times...

A mistake most bash beginners make — It's the array variable expantion. here is an example: x=( a b "c d" ); echo ${x[@]} in this example a beginner would thinkg that ${x[@]} would be expanded to 3 fields but no. It would be expanded into 4 field a,b,c,d . It's very confusing. however to prevent it we just quote the parameter expansion like "${x[@]}" and now it would only expand to 3 fields :) hope you learned something new.

I really don't have schizophrenia — are there schzophrenic out there who doesn't look like well schizohprenic... yeah I am one of them. you could talk to me, hand out with me and talk about tech, privacy and you won't even feel you are talking to someone who is schizophrenic. I don't know if I should take meds or not since It's affecting my life very midly. very rarely I "detach" from reality and start talking in my head and if someone calls me at that time I will be back. again very rarely I...

I keep seeing all of this injustice and corruption everywhere I look. I always thought that I'd feel better once I turned 18 and would be able to vote and drink and stuff; but I still feel as powerless as ever. I sometimes have dreams about randomly catching a train to London and doing something practical; but that's pretty damn unrealistic. What the fuck can I do to make things better?

set up the home server perfectly...except our isp doesnt allow us static ips. mayhap the good ol 'download and hook up with hdmi cable' is the best choice for me then.
