Anonradio, Mirrored on Hashnix
Hey all! Mod of s/music here with a special announcement. :D
I have a Gemini special I'm doing, as part 2 of a series of episodes centered on Gemini and the smallnet, airing later at 0000hr Thursday UTC (5pm Wednesday PDT). I'll be covering a lot of grassroots homegrown music artists like @johan and their Stafetten project w/ songs played on air as well as premiering new gemini debut'd artists like @xavi and their new KovoK release!
I also have a smallnet music review of Ether Diver who has their music available on bandcamp as requested by the host of Lispy gopher show on anonradio!
All this and more if you listen in at the http site for anonradio.net. If you'd like to listen via lagrange or other media-capable gem-client (if it supports cgi and/or media playback) you can use the mirror at my pubnix to listen live via gemini!
Hope to catch y'all there. I'll be posting a mirror of the archive for both this sequel and the original gemini specials as well. Cheers!

@blah_blah_blah in the interest of giving a sort of fair prelude or preface, I'd like to acknowledge I now recognize and concede that I've been posting with highlight to my anonradio show without even really any kind of premise or synopsis to describe the basis of the format which my show is involved with.
As a solution, I now host a mirror capsule for my show on my pubnix with details and episode listing at the link below:

I wanted to get that out of the way so I can go ahead and address your review, which is fair and valid, that said I'd like to give discretion to the fact you also point out you've scanned through the audio in search of dialogue and/or music under the pretense of "waiting for the show to start" if you refer to being at the point of the theme song after the cold opens of the show. In making a critique of content like this I feel it -is- important to take in the entirety of the breadth of the content before giving assessment rather than taking bit by bit consumption of the content and making an impression from segments of a complete work. That said, I also -don't- know if you did listen to the full episodes, which if you did thank you :D but I just wanna make sure that's noted before I go into each point made in your review. (I'm still typing this out so this is continued)

The woman talking at the beginning, it's an AI?
the clip you're referring to is this video from youtube which explains geminispace, from the channel of this user.
โ Gemini Protocol: The Small Web Revolution - user: Cynical Whisper of the Future, Invidious
I'll admit, I -do- not know if the vocal is AI. I notice there are other similar channels on youtube, like Shima University is one such, which seem like content farmed generated videos to produce listicles from random meaningless fun facts but actually are real people providing voiceovers for narrating infortainment for the purpose of making educational videos. I concede I oughta make better effort to keep a n y AI content out of anything to do with the smallnet and gemini, even as it concerns a simple explanation or dialogue of the networks.
Now with that out the way, I don't think that should stand as any strong deterrent to give a piece of content a chance if it's both unverified whether or not the one short clip is AI, and then regardless if the clip itself is only AI with the rest of the episode being organic homegrown independelty produced material by the likes of those similar to even you or me.
..I heard a voice, maybe yours.. ..I rewound and heard that voice again in an earlier portion of the file, but it was very very faint.
Yeeaaah, that one's a logistical error lolol. I need to make better attention to the equipment I'm using, as the cable to the interface I use for vocal recording had gotten loose at the time of broadcast and had made the client default to my friggin shitty laptop mic ahahaha that's why It's faint at the beginning.
As for the rest of the episode being mostly music, like I mentioned in the initial post, this was a highlight to the music of artists who independently and generously host their own music here on the geminispace. You can actually see a list of the tracks and their links to the audio now in that page I provided above for details to my show.
The beginning of this file includes audio that does not belong to the podcast...then enters into a more expected experience of a voice... Seeking into file, I found classical music increasing in volume until the voice became harder to hear... are you talking, or are you playing music? When you are talking, keep the background music to a minimum.
So see, thaaaat's why I say it's important to make critique without only scanning. :P While I appreciate and even try my best to make sure the mix is as equalized as I can make it live, I'd also like to point your attention so you're aware as well, that's not my voice or my mix of the music lolol.
That comes from this clip called "audioblogging manifesto" (LMFAO wtf??) hosted on solderpunks own capsule. I think it's someone else reading, and it someone else's article and clip, as search of the dialogue reveals this web link. Both of which are linked below this passage.
โ audioblogging manifesto - ~solderpunk on circumlunar
โ audioblogging manifesto - Idle-words
with regard to the mix that was produced by the render of this performance, as well as any mixups I made on my program anyhow regardless :P, not in any defense of anybody else's or my own mixing issues but we should all keep in mind that much of us here operate in these avenues by various means of either limitation or ability. On top of that, this is stuff I'm doing live, and I can only do so much as it concerns other people's mixes in the interest of keeping an accurate and authentic presentation of the content and those artists who produce it.
In connection to any confusion over why talking and then music all of a sudden, is why I made preface in the beginning to the fact I now realize I hadn't even given any premise to wtf my show is -_-; With explicit intent, this show is by all means a full-blown VARIETY show. It's both talking, and mostly playlists of music to highlight new artists in between the talking and/or soundbytes I play much like what the cold open for the recent episode was. It's also why I feel skipping could potentially taint or even ruin your understanding of what's supposed to happen in the show (given you didn't realize it's a variety show, and that's my own fault -w-) because of how important to the chronology of the progression of the show is to the sequence of each segment taking place. I didn't previously link to the capsules of these artists either thouhg or totally give all the details to which song was which, D'OH!
One of my favorite shows when I was a kid was Art Bell... He always started the show by telling his audience what the show was going to about, who was going to be on the show...he did play music at the beginning. Then he had regular breaks...other structure to make the show consistent and digestible.
This is also why I hope you listened to the full episodes but on top of that I also should have made clearer awareness to the show's format being a variety internet radio show. If it gives the show a clearer presentation too, at the link for my show's page above, I also link to the web archive for the complete list of episodes for the show for a better idea of how it plays out. All this to say, I did do much of this, but also with segments of music interspersed to highlight other people other than myself ehehehe.
I actually love these points you present here too, because I do want to make sure I perform these segments with a clearer vision of what they're meant to be in the show in between the music. I love coast to coast, the theme song with Giorgio Moroder's The Chase, the interviews between all sorts of whacky people, and I also love all types of other radio shows too like Opie and Anthony, the live sets on NTS, japanese indie stream Dommune to name a few and I mean to make my best effort to incorporate these influences into the concept of my show.
My bad for this EXTREMELY LONG ASS BLOCK OF TEXT LOL I didn't mean to go on and on like this @~@ I wanted to give your review a proper response.
I appreciate your criticism, I hope this episode at least compels you if not to check out the rest of the show then definitely to check out the artists who I mean to highlight in the music segments of the show.
I hope to hear more from ya soon :D Hallelujah, God bless ya, and til then!

Oh shoot i forgot to mention -- that weird ass loop not part of the episode in the beginning of the recent special? lmaooo i can explain: I stream into my login for the show before the show starts by ike a minute, so once the relay on anonradio switches from the robodj to the login for my show, im also capturing desktop audio with monitor to make sure I'm streaming in live as a result making a loop of whatever the last audio was over the radio before I close the tab and start my show. That's why that happens pffff
