“An island garden” — a sweet one

I’m almost finishing “an island garden” by Celia Thaxter, and it’s been such a nice experience! I love how she describes the smallest details on her garden, and how she gives seemingly little dots of advice for whoever that needs them.

It’s a sweet, warm book with such a passion for the subject of gardening that I’ve caught myself smiling at some descriptions of Thaxter’s love towards flowers.

I love the little biologistic undertones too! Clearly, studies about the consciousness of plants will come many years later, but it’s nice to see mentions of people acknowledging them. Good stuff! —🪲
