Discussion about BBS, i.e., the bbs.geminispace.org capsule. See /s/Bubble for the bulletin board software.
BBS has been updated to a work-in-progress version of Bubble. There are a couple of useful additions so far: comment action that merges the comment into the previous post in the thread, if the authors are the same support for the Titan "edit" parameter for a more seamless text editing experience (requires client support!) In addition to the comment author, moderators and the admin have the ability to merge comments. I'll be applying this in cases where the same user comments multiple times...

I've applied a Bubble tweak to make flairs more useful: subspace-specific flairs are now visible when browsing the subspace in question. Previously they would just be abbreviated as [...]. For example, this allows using custom notes to add extra information next to your username in a subspace feed and comment threads in a subspace. Basically, this elevates subspace-specific flairs to be equally important as the OP/mod flairs of a particular post.

New moderation policy: US politics — I have created a new subspace: /s/US-politics All posts concerning this topic (e.g., the presidential election/candidates, internal affairs) will be moved to this subspace. I suggest that if you want to discuss or vent about this topic, make your post directly in s/US-politics, or perhaps on your own gemlog. The rationale for this change is that US politics is a highly controversial topic that is likely to result in unproductive or hostile comment threads....

I appreciate the signup process of this place quite a lot. Even though passwords are optional, by design they are temporary to allow other client certs to be added. This means I do not have to save the password anywhere. As someone who spent a frustratingly large amount of time to go from managing about 200 passwords to about 20, I appreciate the setup of this place a lot.

BBS has been updated to Bubble v8.2. There was a bugfix that impacts some profile descriptions. When entering a description, it was not being sanitized as intended. It is no longer possible to include link lines in the description using the `=>` gemtext syntax. All such lines will be stripped when displayed. Instead, please use the profile's Featured Link to link elsewhere, or make a post in your userspace and put all relevant links there. Such a post can be pinned to the top of the feed (with...

Just realized that I should be using a [sysop] flair, in keeping with the BBS theme. Still means the same thing as before, i.e., admin.

Bubble acceptable use policy, censorship? Is there a policy or a set of guidelines for what's acceptable here? I'd hate to be kicked for saying that I don't appreciate genocide!

s/Anonymous a new subspace for pgp encrypted messages (idea) — Hi, this is a simple proposal to add to this BBS a new subspace dedicated to share PGP encrypted messages. The current pgp section is dedicated to share public keys and if people start to upload message there its going to quickly make it unreadable. This subsection would make it akin to a drop box allowing users to share their pgp key in s/PGP and message each other in s/Anonymous what do you think about the idea? (of course I...

Now with BBS running Bubble v7, you can submit posts to @gritty's DSN Antenna directly from Bubble. The idea here is to aggregate non-(computer-)tech posts in their own feed. The "Submit to Antenna" actions can be found under "More..." and at the bottom of your userspace feed.

"All Posts" now groups posts by subspace — I'm experimenting with something new: to keep All Posts more balanced, I am now grouping posts from each subspace and only one of the grouped posts is visible per each day of posting. Every 15 minutes, the visible post rotates in each grouping. As an example, if someone makes 10 posts on one day in their userspace, only one of them will be shown at a time in All Posts. Throughout the day, which one of the 10 is shown keeps changing. This new rotation...

Moderation Request: Post Spam — Hi, apologies if this isn't the proper format or sub-space to post this, and if so please let me know how I should modify the post accordingly. I'd like to request moderation over decreasing the amount of posts/spam, as well as perhaps a civil warning, to both betabube (sp?) and a459, This is a place for discussion of interests, I believe, and feels sullied when filled with drama. I log on yesterday, everything is flourishing, and now i log on today and...
