29 [1] [PROFANE NOT THY DAUGHTER.] Scripture now mentions *profane not thy daughter* because it earlier stated *Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh* (v. 28). The import of our verse is, your daughter shall not be displayed before the public. Now the voice of a woman is like her nakedness. A cutting is certainly so.
[2] LEST THE LAND FALL INTO HARLOTRY. The reference is to the harlotry of the people of the land. Compare, *when a land sinneth against Me* (Ezek. 14:13).
