Robin Sloan has been drafting a new internet protocol that I suspect might be of some interest to people here. https://github.com/robinsloan/spring-83-spec

User-experience wise the way this is described reminds me of Fraidycat ( https://fraidyc.at/ ) - I quite like that sort of "look upon your personally curated surveillance network" system, so I'm definitely intrigued. · 2 years ago

@degrowther2 Yeah I'm not totally convinced yet that this idea needs its own protocol but it's kinda neat. I might be keeping an eye on it. · 2 years ago

@cobradile94 I guess it's a protocol in the same way that something like ActivityPub is a protocol. I haven't taken a very deep look at it yet, just read the initial announcement post and checked out the demo client for a few minutes. I like the comparison to a magazine rack. · 2 years ago

When I first read this I have to admit that I didn’t see the appeal. But I am definitely willing to have my mind changed once I see some examples in the wild. The impulses are all well-aligned with how I want the internet to change, but the implementation doesn’t feel like the answer. · 2 years ago

I’m confused? It seems all of the links to this protocol are still HTTPS. How is this a different protocol? · 2 years ago
