I love it that this place is still small enough so that I can dock every few days and still get through all the updates. It has a kind of message board feeling, as opposed to horror of infinite scroll found on typical social media.

@antolius in practice it seems Lagrange doesn't render the page until it gets the whole thing and the SSL shutdown occurs. This is also in the spec as the end of transmission mark, which will not occur in a network error. So long polling connections will hopefully just be interpreted as loss of connection. · 2 years ago
@wolftivy funny thing is: content streaming / infinite scroll are built into the Gemini spec (have been from the start I believe). Server can just continuously write content (line by line) to an existing connection. And clients should, in theory, render content line by line as they receive it.
I haven't seen this used for anything nefarious though. · 2 years ago
Just wait until this place gets overpopulated. Then it will be a teeming hive of scum just like everywhere, though perhaps always more niche.
I really hope solderpunk never allows anything like content streaming or infinite scroll. · 2 years ago
Well some folk have this idea of allowing Gemini to be used in "feed form" whereby content can be continuously sent by the server and rendered as it arrives. So if you're lucky, that could be used to implement an infinite scroll ;) · 2 years ago
