In the interest of non-meta content on Gemini, today I went hydrofoil surfing for the first time since breaking a bone in my hand 8 weeks ago. My wrist hurt when I popped from my belly to my feet, but the feeling of surfing a hoverboard is the best.

@figbert e-foils are fun, I've ridden them a couple times. They're also much easier to ride than an unpowered foil, although they don't really turn because they're so heavy. My surf foils have no motor, besides the waves and my legs.
I think there are some diy kits going around for e-foils. I think Axis was developing one which would work with their hollow extruded alumium mast. · 3 years ago
I fell in love with electric hydrofoils on sight. Need to get myself one ASAP. · 3 years ago
@mc yeah exactly! One nice thing about foiling is there's a lot of bang for the buck (paddle into one wave and ride 3 or 4). I'm still achey and sore today, though! · 3 years ago
It seems you finally got to understand when older surfers say they forgive the pain for the pleasure. :D · 3 years ago
