👽 mysterons

Anyone know what happened to geminispace.info? It seems to have vanished. Recommendations for replacement Gemini search engines are welcome.

Anyway, thanks for the help, the mailing list should get me sorted. · 7 months ago

👽 mysterons

Interestingly, it responds on IPv4 now but searches seem to return no results. I can't find a single term that returns a result! · 7 months ago

👽 mysterons

Wow, great catch, thanks @m0xee! I do indeed have IPv6 disabled on my network. I will eventually move on from IPv4... maybe... some day :) · 7 months ago

@mysterons I have received a reply to my e-mail. It should work now both on IPv6 and IPv4. I'm too lazy to bring down IPv6 on my end to check if Gemini access works and I don't know of any other way to disable IPv6 just in Lagrange, but I can at least confirm that it responds to IPv4 ping now. · 7 months ago

I've reported the problem by sending an e-mail to geminispace.info list! · 7 months ago

👽 m0xee

@mysterons Hah! I've found the problem! It responds on its IPv6 address: 2a02:247a:207:8e00:1::1

But does NOT on its IPv4 one: 82.165.79.210

You don't have IPv6, right? · 7 months ago

@mysterons Weird indeed! I could even suggest that I might've been cached somewhere on your router and clearing DNS cache could help, but TOR has a resolver of its own AFAIK.

It might be a reverse problem though, something's wrong with geminispace.info's DNS entry, mine and @userfsnet 's ISP still have old entries in their cache so it keeps working for us, your ISP and DNS servers TOR uses for clearnet resolution have already received the update so it doesn't work 🤷 · 7 months ago

So weird... it didn't work for me, and it isn't working when accessed over Tor either. I can understand how a Tor IP might be blocked but not my home IP. I wonder if my IP rotated into a block that is on some abuse list? · 7 months ago

@mysterons i can confirm that geminispace.info is still goin strong · 7 months ago

👽 m0xee

@mysterons Seems so!

I even double checked by searching for a random string of characters to make sure it's not cached or something — it works. · 7 months ago

That's weird, I don't get any response from geminispace.info. I wonder if I've been blackholed for some reason? I rarely search. Kennedy works well though, thanks! · 7 months ago

The main page has been moved here: gemini://geminiprotocol.net/

However the search engine at geminispace.info still works for me. Then, there is Kennedy: gemini://kennedy.gemi.dev/ · 7 months ago
