i’m thinking of getting a coffee machine with Internet connectivity when I move out and making a command line Linux application to control it
Have any of you done something cool like that before? It doesn’t have to relate to coffee machines but doing something with your computer on the command line and accessing a different machine on your network or building a cool project sort of like this.

I second @marmaladefoo's comment. Standards exist for a reason! Also, see if you can get it to work with IPOAC (IP over Avian Carrier). · 2 years ago
I hacked my ikea blinds to move up and down on a schedule as well as have a lil web interface if I wanna manually set them · 2 years ago
A simple microcontroller (arduino, pyco) might allow you to buy a cheap coffee machine and experiment with that · 2 years ago
Not quite like a coffee machine. I have a music server setup that streams music out to multiple speakers in the house that play in sync. I have some buttons on my terminal dashboard that I have attached to scripts that change the volume on all the speakers at once and pause/play, change playlists etc. · 2 years ago
Well you must make sure you use RFC2324 HTCPCP to control your coffee machine, it is precisely for this purpose https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc2324 · 2 years ago
