Grief in Summer

I look straight ahead, and there's my face,

I look behind, a stranger in my place

Every page of the book is new,

In every paragraph the question, "who are you?"

It's weird to know that they're all me,

That I was not who I will be

I wish I could have last summer's me's face,

With no grief, or fear, or goals to chase

It brings me a little comfort knowing,

That she was where I could be going
