The Galactic World Reconnaissance Program (GWRP) is a United States space exploration and research program. The mission of GWRP is to gather scientific and strategic intelligence about planets in the Milky Way, evaluate their strategic importance in the United States' interests in the exploration of space, and further humanity's understanding of celestial objects in the Milky Way. GWRP is jointly administered by the United States Defense Services (USDS), the American Intelligence Commission (AIC), and the Federal Bureau of Space Exploration and Colonization (FBSEC).
Site 23 is the 23rd mission of the GWRP, the 8th outpost mission, and the 5th manned outpost mission. The command crew consists of mission commander William Douglas, mission lieutenants Roger Edwards and Charles McNamara, chief pilot George Herschel, communications specialist Antonio Vasquez, and lead researchers Wilbert Price and Merideth Wagner. The target region of the mission is galactic star region GSR-10-29871, located approximately halfway along the Centaurus Arm of the Milky Way 55,300 light-years from Earth.
