Today is the first day of spring. I am posting this pretty late, the sun has set here and I spent the day listening to records, playing with my dog, and making music. It's funny how your mood effects the way you write. It's the most obvious sentence ever said "if you're happy you'll want to write happy music" but I say it because it helped me break out of my musical box.
I hesitate to call it a song because it is more an extended jam. I have written a proper B section for it but ran out of time to get a solid recording of it. This is the most complete piece of music I've written in a long time, so I am happy to have gotten a decent recording of it.
I originally wrote up a songwriting process log of it, but I realized I honestly had already forgetten how I ended up with the chords and harmonies that it felt too rambly.
I started out playing my Micron using the "Dream Pad" preset and picked out this harmony that resonated with me. Then I made the drum beat, then the bass line. Tweaking a pre-existing patch I made on my Model D to find something that mixed well with the pads.
I messed around with some ideas before landing on adding guitar to it, and ended up with what you hear now.
