Gardaí are investigating a number of incidents that occurred last

evening in Cork city.

A man, aged in his 60s, is in a serious condition following a collision

in Cork.

The incident happened at around 6.10pm on the Churchfield Road on

Friday evening when the man was struck by a motorcycle.

He was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment following the

collision where gardaí said his condition is described as serious.

The motorcyclist and pillion passenger left the scene, a garda

spokesperson said.

Gardaí say they are continuing to investigate this and a number of

incidents in Cork city last night.

They are also investigating an incident of criminal damage at a

property in the Shanakiel area at 5.40pm.

Gardaí also seized a suspected firearm last evening and a man in his

20s was arrested by Gardaí.

He remains detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State

Act, 1939 at a Garda Station in the Southern Region.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone with information in relation to any of

these incidents or road users with video footage to contact them.
