Handsome Archie leaves Kildare rescue shelter for new home

Niamh O'Donoghue, 24 Aug

Archie is a handsome four-year old Wire Fox Terrier that came into our

care recently.

He is very well-behaved, friendly, easy to walk on his lead and has a

nice temperament. Often, Wire Fox Terriers are abandoned or surrendered

for reasons that may include running away instead of coming on a

command, chasing cars, bicycles, or other dogs, But these are actually

normal behaviors for a breed designed to hunt not only foxes, but also

badgers and boars.

This breed has a coat that needs regular grooming, and when Archie

arrived into our shelter he was badly in need of a good haircut. He

could hardly see where he was going. He needed a tight haircut to get

the coat back in shape again. Our picture shows the before and after

Archie, and also what we predict he will look like in a few weeks time

when his hair grows again. He has been adopted recently and will enjoy

his new home where there will be lots of space to match his boundless

energy and enquiring nature.

We were delighted to have been invited to promote our charity at the

Carole Nash Historic Festival at Mondello Park. The two day event

featured vintage, classic, racing cars and motorcycles from the glamour

of the roaring twenties through to the swinging sixties. With live

music, racing and entertainment this nostalgic look back at the great

cars and bikes of the past was very special.
