New book on Irish republican escapes from Curragh Camp to be launched in Naas

A new book on successful republican escapes, including from the Curragh

Camp, will be launched in Naas next week.

Jailbreak: Great Irish Republican Escape 1865-1983, written by

archivist and author James Durney, is published by Merrion Press.

The launch takes place in Naas Library & Cultural Centre om Wednesday

28th August at 7pm.

The Special Guest Speaker is Art McCoy, whose father John helped

orchestrate the escape of Frank Aitken and a 100 others from Dundalk in

July 1922, and then subsequently escaped from Tintown Camp on the

Currragh Camp.
