Be sure to soak and scrub quinoa to remove any coating soponins if someone has not already done so. If the quinoa feels greasy, or the water bubbles something like it has soap in it, they need more scrubbing.
Rinse quinoa, roast in pot at medium-high heat stirring frequently until the seeds are toasted to taste. Add double the amount of quinoa in liquid, and boil it for a while. With a steamer attachment cook chopped carrots above the quinoa, though this may easily cook the carrots for too long.
The quinoa could be boiled down with salt, garlic powder, coriander powder, dill, ginger powder, and a touch of vinegar. For a sauce, maybe use apple cider vinegar, cold water, and cornstarch.
Some authorities like to cook quinoa with the lid off, then to steam it in a closed pot for another five minutes or so. This method will likely also work for other quick-cooking grains such as rolled oats or teff.
