An X1.7 flare was recorded with peak time 13:39 UTC on August 05. This flare originated from beyond the west solar limb. Coronagraph imagery is not yet available and will be analysed for any associated Coronal Mass Ejection (CME). However, due to the source location beyond the limb, any associated CME would not likely be Earth directed except for a possible wider shock. The 10 MeV proton flux is at background levels, but an increase may be possible due to this event given the location of the source region. Further isolated X-class flares remain possible.
