FIVE Limerick pubs have been honoured in this year’s Bar of the Year
Awards.
The Locke Bar won the highly-coveted People’s Choice Award for Best Bar
in Munster in the annual ceremony.
In an Instagram post, the bar said “We are thrilled to take home the
People’s Choice Award in the Munster Category at the 2024 Bar of the
Year Awards - thanks to all who took the time to vote!”.
Mother Macs Public House came second in the Whiskey Bar of the Year
category, and was also nominated for Craft Bar of the Year, Traditional
Bar of the Year and Innovative Bar of the Year.
The Locke won bronze in the Tourist Bar category, while Whelan’s Bar
won bronze in the Local Bar category.
Treaty City Brewery came third in the Craft Bar of the Year category,
and was also nominated for Visitor Attraction of the Year.

As for the Best Bar to Watch the Match, Jerry Flannery’s and 1314 were
deemed the third best in the country. Collins Bar, Dooradoyle, and the
Old Quarter GastroPub were also nominated for this award.
Cask was nominated for Hotel Bar of the Year, Cocktail Bar of the Year
and City Bar of the Year, with The Old Quarter also being nominated for
the latter.
Durty Nelly's Bar and Restaurant, Bunratty, was nominated for Tourist
Bar of the Year and Best Live Entertainment Bar, while House Limerick
was nominated for Gin Bar of the Year.
A statement from the Irish Bar of The Year Awards explained that
“Amongst the galaxy of contenders, the most exceptional bars have been
recognized and celebrated for their extraordinary contributions to the
hospitality industry. These establishments have elevated the art of
mixology, ambiance, and service, captivating patrons with unforgettable
experiences”.
