How to write Two songs

My plan for Tilde30

So here in ~town, things are afoot. ~elly is setting up a tilde30 for us all to do a 30-day project together.

For my part, I'm going to pursue some songwriting. I've been involved, lately, in a songwriting club with some friends - we get together every couple weeks, listen to demos of each others' songs, and give suggestions. The timing will, I think, work out pretty well - I'm hoping we'll have two June meetings at the 2-week and 4-week point of Tilde30, which means I can make it my goal to have two songs written for the club meetings.

For a while, now, I've had the title "recovering man" bouncing around my head for a album. "Man," here, is used in a similar sense to "Alcoholic" - something I'm recovering from being. I've got a couple of songs earmarked for this collection already, I want to add a few more, and this project might help me knock a couple out. Because this is two songs over 28 days, I'm envisioning a two-week cycle, done twice. Here's the plan:

Week 1

I'll add a couple of boxes to my daily tasks on my tracker - one for writing word vomit about a few topics, and the other for writing riffs and melodic ideas.

(This is what I mean when I talk about the tracker)

The word vomit section is to gather some preliminary lyrical ideas. I've already made a list of topics - it includes things like dysphoria, the new queer relationships I have, insecurity in my old relationships, things of that nature. Trans shit.

Week 2

During this week, I'll review my lyrical ideas and musical ideas, and see if I can make any of them mesh. Pick my favorites and work on the minutiae of getting them to cohere together - transitions, density, etc. At the midway point, Wednesday or thursday, I need to be ready to make a basic demo recording so that I can finish that by Friday. Friday night is club night. So, That's when I'll submit for judgement.

So yeah. Milestones for the month of June:
